Poetry: If Only In My Heart

I’ll hold your hand and dry your tears,

Pull you close and hold you near,

If only in my heart.

I’ll lend an ear, take on your fears,

Prop you up and pull you through,

If only in my heart.

We’ll lay back and count the stars,

Watch the moon chase the earth,

Trade kisses in the dark,

If only in my heart.

I can’t be there, it’s not my place,

Perhaps another time and space,

My arms won’t ache to hold you close,

You’ll be mine.

If only in my heart.
